Dominic Cruz Plata is a photographer and designer born in Seattle, Washington and currently based in Austin, Texas. He specializes in capturing moments in sports, political events, and general coverage, while also exploring creative design and writing. 

Dominic’s passion for photography began when he watched his mom take portraits and family photos as a side job, pushing him to research and learn more about the career. Then, he learned how photography can supplement journalism and news, and has been hooked ever since. 

Dominic is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. His photography has been featured in various campus publications, and he continues to document UT Austin for The Daily Texan.

As a Puerto Rican and Mexican student, Dominic takes pride in his heritage, hopes to bring new perspectives and ideas to the journalism world, and always tries to leave a positive impact wherever he goes.
